Ascent NB membership is intended for individuals who wish to climb recreationally in the province on New Brunswick. Becoming a member of Ascent NB helps support a grass-roots organization that focuses on maintaining climber access to climbing areas in New Brunswick and gives climbers a unified voice in the province.
Who Can Join Ascent NB?
- Climbers of any age can join Ascent NB. Minors under the age of 18 must have their waiver form signed by a parent or guardian.
What does being a member of Ascent NB provide for me?
- Ascent NB has negotiated access agreements with many landowners in New Brunswick. Being a member of Ascent NB provides you access to many climbing areas in the province like McQuirks, Kingston, Parlee Brook, the Hatchery and Glebe Road Ice Crags.
- Ascent NB has negotiated a streamlined call-in procedure with CFB Gagetown for Ascent NB members accessing climbing areas like Cochrane Lane, Mt Douglas and Sunnyside.
- Ascent NB members have access to knowledge-sharing workshops hosted by Ascent NB.
- Ascent NB members have access to the annual Welsford Rendezvous event.
How long is my membership good for?
- Ascent NB membership runs on a yearly cycle from April 1st - March 31st. Your membership expires March 31st regardless of when you joined. Members are responsible for renewing their membership each year.

Are my children included in my membership?
- When you purchase an Ascent NB membership, any of your dependents under the age of 18 can receive a membership at no extra cost. When filling out your Ascent NB membership application select the "Adult and Minor(s)" option to include the names of your dependents.
Where does my money go?
- Ascent NB is a non-profit organization. The vast majority of money received covers annual liability insurance providing coverage to the land owner's with whom we have access agreements. This insurance and the membership fees to pay for it is critical to maintaining our access agreements.
Anything else I should know?
- Ascent NB membership provides no personal protections or insurance for members.
- Access to private lands is always at the land owner's discretion. Ascent NB membership does not guarantee access to any area.
- Ascent NB events and their class sizes are dependant on volunteer availability. Ascent NB membership does not guarantee access to any Ascent NB events.
